StALeR 60 – Legacy: Inheritors (Part 10)

Hear me out.

O’Neill and Guide.

They’re both considered ‘consorts’. They’re both older than the others. They’re both warriors. And they’d both do anything to keep their people safe.

Would they be friends?

Honestly, I think they’d get along very well. Friends? Maybe not that, but they would definitely get a kick out of each other’s company.

If only because they’re so wonderfully devious in their own ways you know?

I mean, Sheppard and Guide are friends (I don’t care what anyone else says!) and O’Neill handpicked Sheppard for Atlantis so you know he likes the man.

And Sheppard likes Guide, which means-

O’Neill and Guide would get along just fine!

I’m basing this on my own opinion (of course), but also on the interactions between the two in this book. There aren’t many, but I get the feeling Guide respects O’Neill.

O’Neill, as always, gives what he gets.

Guide decides to be sassy, O’Neill responds in kind. Guide gives one of his toothy grins and O’Neill is right there with one of his own.

I would have loved to read more between the two (as always!), but what I’ve got is fabulous and I enjoy and laugh at it every time!

(You’re gonna laugh I promise!)

Consider the dynamic between these two old consorts and let me know what you think!

Ciao till next time!

Hate doing this…again.

Sorry y’all. There are only 3 people who can open and close the store at the moment (everyone else is out sick) and I’m one of them.

I went in to help yesterday and I close tonight then work my second job in the morning.

To say I’m exhausted would be an understatement.

I’ll try and get something Atlantis ready for next Monday.

Sorry y’all.

Kind of Atlantis?

Hello peeps!!

1st update: I ended up with a total of 46 pages written over my vacation!

And I have today off from both jobs so guess what I’ll be working on?

2nd update: My small bookshelf of TBR books is starting to grow off of the shelves again so I’ll have to read some of those instead or in addition to Atlantis.

The problem this week is that other than tomorrow, I’ll be working everyday and three of those days are both places. I’m gonna be pretty pooped y’all, but I’m off next Sunday so I’ll hopefully get to sleep in and get some reading done too.

3rd update: Good news is that the conversation went very well and my hours will start changing next week. It would have been this week but I didn’t want my boss to have to redo the schedule so late in the week.

Bad news is that I haven’t been able to find a portable CD player that’s USB. They’re all aux or Bluetooth. I may have to settle on an aux one or get a go-between piece.

Why do I need this?

For the ‘kinda Atlantis’ title reason.

I’m pretty sure I mentioned that there are audiobook productions of Stargate stories out there and I managed to snag one from ThriftBooks awhile ago. The problem, of course, is that new cars don’t have CD players stand are anymore (rude).

And the house CD player broke and we haven’t replaced it yet…

4th update: The only “downside” (feel free to envision me very sarcastically doing air quotes here) is that once I have all the audiobooks I’ll have to do another read/watch/listen through so that I can give y’all a comprehensive list for Atlantis ultimate enjoyment!

Oh no.

I suspect some of my family members have been buying them for presents so I can’t buy any myself until or unless I ask. Is okay though, cause I still have to find a dang player first!

Until next week!

How it started vs How it’s going!

So exciting to be able to share this!

Y’all know I’ve been on vacation the last two weeks (and it has been heaven!) and I’ve gotten a ton of stuff done around the house, read several books and have also been writing.

This is where the title of this post comes from because this is how my vacation started-

(178 pages at the start!)

And this is how it’s going!

(Excuse the background light please)

Keep in mind that I am scheduling this post before I’m down writing for the night. I still have a couple of hours to go but I wanted to get this ready so I didn’t forget.

I have written 42 pages over vacation and I wasn’t even writing every day. I know I said I would but, again, I was doing other stuff too.

I have over 81,800 words written and I’m not actually slowing down.

I only work three days at my second job this week so I plan to keep working on this before things get too busy again.

Speaking of my second job. Hopefully I’ll still have it because, for health reasons, I have to change my availability. It’s not the first time I’ve talked to my manager about it (it’s actually like 3rd or 4th if I count the interview) but during vacation I’ve realized that I can’t keep working the early shifts. I only worked 1 day there out of 18 and I was so exhausted that one day it wasn’t even funny.

So a conversation is going to happen and hopefully it’ll work out. Otherwise I’ll have to look for a different part time job.

That’s all for now! I’ll have an Atlantis post for next week but I wanted to share about the writing progress because I’m so happy!!

StALeR 59 – Legacy: Inheritors (Part 9)

Something of a funny thing happens during the end of the battle in this book.

Radek, Teyla and a group of Marines go to a Hiveship that’s full of explosives meant to take out Atlantis.

Teyla gets control of the Hiveship and starts to move it away, but the explosives are still a problem and armed.

Radek, of course, is trying to figure out how to disarm the mess when Ember arrives to help.

Here’s the funny part.

Radek and Ember are not unlike Radek and Rodney or Rodney and Ember.

The three are geniuses in their own rights and can work together very well under extraordinary circumstances. In this case, Radek and Ember starts finishing each other’s sentences as they see the same issues concerning the bomb.

This goes on for a bit and it’s really funny because it’s a scene we’ve seen a thousand times throughout the Stargate series’.

If the situations weren’t so dire it would essentially just be a couple of nerds geeking out over a shared passion.

It just so happens that this time it’s a human and Wraith instead of a human and another human.

They save the day (heck yeah, you go science dudes!), but Ember is injured as they leave. Radek, having taken the new retrovirus not long ago, offers to let Ember feed on him.

Obviously Ember is all for that and, true to quite a few of Guide’s people, makes sure to take what’s needed but not more.

I like these scenes because character development is always such a great thing and fans LOVE it when it’s done right.

Stargate has always been able to deliver great character development!

That’s gonna be all for this week. Next week probably won’t be a Stargate post and if it is it’ll be a half post because I’d like to do one of those ‘this is how it started vs how it’s going’ posts.

Since I have another week of vacation I’ll be buckling down on a few things and I’d like to give everyone an update.

Until next week!

We might have a problem…

I admit my laptop is a little old, but I had really hoped it would last a couple more years.

Unfortunately it looks like that may not be the case. I have no idea what’s wrong with it except that it’s holding some pictures hostage.

Thus, I’m making this post via phone. Which works, obviously, but it is a little aggravating because every time I start getting into a better place financially something always seems to happen.

*le sigh*

I’ll see if I can’t borrow a desktop from someone tomorrow and set up some posts.

In other news!

Today is day 4 of my vacation and it’s going gooooooooood!!!

I’m feeling better, getting up at a somewhat regular time and going to bed the same. Here’s hoping it’ll help my health!

Till next time!

Oops…

I forgot to make a post.

But!

My vacation starts Friday and hopefully I’ll actually set some up so this stops happening.

I hate to say it, however, my vacation is primarily going to be used to finish my dark fantasy manuscript. I should be able to get a few posts ready though…

I think.

We’ll see next week won’t we?

Ta for now!

Happy Easter!

As the title says, Happy Easter everyone!!

I know it’s a day late, however, I post on Monday’s and felt that y’all would forgive me.

My family hasn’t celebrated yet, but I’ll let you know what I get when I get it!

For now I bid you adieu!

Because it’s late, I had a rough night last night, and I work my part time morning job tomorrow so need sleep something fierce.

Ciao!

StALeR 58 – Legacy: Inheritors (Part 8)

I cannot stress enough how much I enjoy seeing secondary characters shine in these books.

Our newest archeologist (William Lynn for those who forgot) and a geologist (new to us too but I like her first appearance!) Claire Greensmith, track down Sheppard and ask him how they would become essential personnel.

Because only essential personnel are staying during the fight to come. Everyone else is being shipped back Earth side.

These two decided that Atlantis was too important to them to just leave it. I’m sure the majority of people felt the same but remember that quite a few people were added at the last second to boost numbers so Atlantis could get back to Pegasus.

How many other people went to their supervisors and asked the same question? How many talked to Carter? Or Radek?

I’ve always loved how Atlantis started as just another place to explore. Another potential safe guard to keep Earth safe from their enemies, but quickly became a home to so many people who felt they didn’t have anything left to keep them on Earth.

Atlantis was supposed to be a one way trip. The first group that went may never have had contact with Earth again.

They definitely made Atlantis home, and one they have no intention of letting get destroyed after everything else they’ve been through over the last few years!

I know it’s not very long again, but to be fair the interaction between the scientists and Sheppard wasn’t long either.

My family is also in the midst of finding a new home ourselves and I’m still not ready for my vacation writing bananza coming way too soon.

Anyways, I’ll see y’all next week!

Nope

I am really sorry but I have a massive headache that meds don’t seem to be touching. I’ll get a post for next week of some kind set up.

Sorry again.
