My mama is a genius!

Y’all remember last weeks post about the MiniVerse plans?

What about a couple weeks ago when I mentioned the Easter plans?

My mama, who is fabulous!, asked me what I did with the plastic ball parts the MiniVerse came in. I told her I wasn’t keeping them at the moment because I’m trying not to hoard craft stuff again, but that if I ever have an idea for using them I’ll start keeping them (instead of just throwing them away).

My mama, the absolute genius!, suggested I use them in lieu of plastic eggs for my Easter surprise!!

Y’all!

Not only will that save me $30-$40, but they’re bigger than eggs and their shape is more conducive to multiple items in one!!

All this to say, I will unfortunately be working on the massive amount of MiniVerse I already have so I have enough empty for Easter.

Oh darn.

😁😁

I love tiny things!

See ya next week with some pics!

I may have done a thing…

Mwahahahahaha!!!

I have been collecting these MiniVerse resin kits for a year now and have a BIG box full!

My plan was to fill a box and then take vacation and do nothing but these absolutely adorable mini kits and read.

And the reading wasn’t a sure thing either!

I almost had an entire box full (thanks to my family and Christmas!) when I came across these.

The pink one on the bottom itself usually goes for $9.97ish and the other two are just slightly below $7 (before tax, over $7 with tax).

So I got some.

And then I got paid again and got some more.

My box is now FULL!!

And I had one tube extra but it’s all the big ones I combined into one tube so I actually don’t know if I was a whole tube over or not.

Anyways!

Sometime in March I plan to have time off for this and I will keep y’all posted!

Until next time, stay warm!

Christmas!!

We did not get a chance to celebrate Christmas at actual Christmas time due to differing work schedules so we just moved it to this past weekend.

It was AWESOME!!

I didn’t get any books, however I did get B&N gift cards which is the same thing!😍

I also got a ton of the MiniVerse sets!!

My box got an upgrade and is almost full again which means I need to pick a week to take off and play with those!

Speaking of presents!

My mama also got me a MiniBrands Create (the Master Chef) for me to try.

I was vastly unimpressed with the MiniBrands Botanicals because they were just clip into place sets and not actual resin sets. I did want to try a food one though and see how it did compared to my enjoyment of the MiniVerse sets.

Here’s what I made!

We begin! The little hat is actually a UV light which is pretty cute tbh.

Everything unpacked and ready to go!

The whip cream was a really cool feature (it’s some kind of glue) and the only problem I had was that it was immediately covered up and you couldn’t see the design anymore so seemed useless.

I still have some left though and can use it for actual whip cream effect on something else!

The tarts have been assembled!
The syrup is added!
Finished berry tarts!

Next set! Got another UV hat light which seems like a waste since it was a double pack and I shouldn’t need 4hrs of light to cure these.

It’s a MiniBrands thing though. The grocery/food ones have a bunch of bags, carts, etc… in the packs in lieu of the actual mini foods.

It’s not that they aren’t cute and usable, but in this case it seemed like a waste of space when they could have added something else. Like maybe I could have made the pastry myself!

The puff pastry is ready!

I forgot to take a pic after the first set with the white cream and strawberries. This is after the second set with the chocolate syrup and mint sprig.

Behold! The finished products!

These were FAR more enjoyable than the botanical sets. I’m disappointed that there wasn’t extra for me to play with like MiniVerse, but I fully intend to buy more to try and get the whole set!

I’ll try and do a comparison between the two brands when I have that week off. I just can’t guarantee I’ll take pics for every step!

Till next week peeps!

Easter already?!

Okay look, several months ago when we were doing ‘blind date with a book’ at work we were still buying lunch bags to put them in (didn’t realize yet in house bags worked just as well!).

The problem, is that we kept forgetting what size we needed.

I ended up getting a size too small, but didn’t realize until I’d already popped the package open.

I know I probably could have returned them anyway, but I figured I’d have use for them.

And I did!

For Christmas last year I did goody bags (using the too small bags) for everyone at work, and it was fantastic and SO much fun!!

But I still have a ton of the bags left.

Thus, Easter bags!

I am entirely too gleeful with my plan for Easter this coming year y’all!

I have candy and stickers planned, those little spinning tops, these tiny glow in the dark resin rubber ducks along with some other (non glowing sadly) rubber ducks, I’m hoping to get those tiny parachute men too and maybe bubbles!!

I also bought Happy Easter cards that were on sale last year and totally intend to put bad egg jokes inside along with egg puns!

Not to brag or anything, but I think it’s an egg-celent idea…

🤣

If I remember I’ll take pics and let y’all see how it turned out!

The idea is to get random cheap toys that we’d get when we were little and absolutely loved them!

I’ll make a sign explaining things and also make sure to let them know that if they don’t want any of the things in their bag (only the candy will be different and that’s because of allergies) to leave it for me and I’ll donate it to the library for their kids programs or maybe one of the churches near me.

Nothing will go to waste!

Until next week, stay safe over New Year’s and have a blast with your friends and families!

Sleepy in the Hollow?

Here’s what happened okay?

Goodreads has the usual challenge you can set for yourself right? Apparently they also now have some other challenges going on that they’re Betaing.

When I realized this I checked it out of course and found that I had already completed 4 out of 6 challenges.

Two left!

I liked the idea behind it because there were books on the approved lists to read from (to complete the challenge) that I had on my TBR.

I got one done and it wasn’t a bad book.

It was ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’ which is a fiction title. Right there you understand why I said it wasn’t a bad book. I don’t do fiction because it’s so every-day and I live that already.

I want vampires and things exploding and space ships!

For a fiction book it was quite good.

The last challenge had to do with ‘fall vibes’ and so I chose a book that I’d been seeing at work and was marketed as cozy small-town romance with spice.

No one can tell me what ‘spice’ actually means so since I enjoy small-town romance I figured why not find out what spice is all about these days?

😑

I should know better than to listen to the masses.

I was unimpressed, to say the least.

Technically book 2 was the one allowed for the challenge but since I don’t read books out of order, I bought all three that were out already and read book 1 first.

As you do.

Book 1 (The Pumpkin Spice Cafe) was the unimpressive one, but not bad enough to make me stop reading.

Book 2 (Cinnamon Bun Book Store) however was bad enough that I left a review saying why it was DNF.

Which brings me to now.

Since I didn’t actually finish the book for the challenge, I feel guilty for “earning” it. I went looking for another book on the list to try and found ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow’.

A classic!

I’ve started it and it’s…interesting.

The olde English style of writing is taking some getting used to, but I should still get it done by the end of the year which is the deadline.

I’ll let y’all know what I think when I’m done!

Classics are hit or miss for me.

I didn’t like ‘The Picture of Dorian Grey’ or ‘Candide’, but ‘Metamorphosis’ wasn’t bad. Creepy and gross, but not bad.

Until next week, keep reading!

You’ll never know what book will become a favorite until you’ve finished it!

About that sneak peek…

A couple of weeks ago I gave y’all a snakes peek at a crafty.

Now, you shall see it all!!

The Miniverse has Lord of the Ring sets!!!

I was SO excited when I saw these on Facebook and even more excited when I wandered into a Walmart and they actually had them!!

A closer look at what’s inside. The packaging isn’t as cute as others, but that makes sense and I’m not unhappy with it.

What’s funny is that they give you 4 handles for the blades, but only 2 display stands for them.

I like that they always give you extra!

I can experiment or just have cute small stuff around!😁

The actual making of the swords was a bit aggravating because you have to squeeze the resin into, then down a tube (upper right hand of pic) to the base of the mold.

Without getting bubbles…

I’m sure with enough practice I’ll get better at it, but my first sword came out without the tip.

First attempt on the left and next attempt on the right!

It looked like there was resin left in the tip, so I decided to make another sword to try and clean it up. Thinking I hadn’t let it set long enough the first time.

Second attempt I used uv lights to help with the curing.

It didn’t actually work.

I thought it was me, but then I happened upon a video post that talked about the exact thing happening to them! Same set and everything!

Apparently, the mold is too thick and so the tip takes way longer to cure than you’d think.

I did try using a nail drying uv light to cure them and that seemed to do the trick since I got a sword with the tip now!

I certainly intend to get more, but since it’s so close to Christmas I’ll wait and see what I get from the family!

I do, however, have a box of unopened Miniverse kits that I fully intend to keep adding to until I decide to take a whole week off and do them ALL!!

I’m so excited!

Next crafty thing is actually my scrapbooks!

Ciao!

Uh-Oh.

My car has been sounding a little rough the last bit so I have to be up at a ridiculous hour to take him in to be seen.

May or may not have to leave him for a couple days. It’ll depend on what the peep says.

See y’all next week!

Please pray whatever the problem is it’s easily fixed!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

No post this week because Thanksgiving is almost here and I have family coming into town! 🎉

I also work the entire Black Friday weekend so I’m not sure about next weeks post, but I’ll do my best!

Don’t forget while you’re counting your blessings to thank God for giving them to you!
