Bible study-ish?

I guess it’s more Bible-ish then study, but I just finished 2 Thessalonians and I have to wonder if Paul actually knew when the second coming would be.

Maybe not the exact date, if only because of the change in how we do our years, but he knew the signs that would precede Christ’s coming again.

The signs, however, are somewhat vague and could actually apply to several moments and people throughout history since then. My study Bible mentioned Tom Davies, a British writer, suggested the TV was the ‘lawlessness one’ since it advocated for violence so easily.

An interesting take if you don’t believe the ‘lawlessness one’ is a person instead of a thing. Except for the fact that Paul actually says ‘man of lawlessness’ so I’m not sure why the writer would think an inanimate object was what Paul was talking about.

Unless there are different translations or the understanding of the language has changed since then. It doesn’t give a date for Tom Davies, though I’m sure I could look it up.

Anyways, I’ve said it once and twice and a few more times! Reading my Bible as an adult is fascinating!

Till next time my peeps!

New crafty!

Exciting crafty things! I bought one of those crystal art kits (it was on sale for $5) because it was a unicorn…and cheap.

I mentioned it was $5 right?

Anyways, I’d seen those around since covid when it became popular, but had too many crafty things at home to do so never bought one.

Y’all.

It’s a cross-stitch in another form.

SO mindless, with repetitive movements and different colors to work one at a time.

Loved it!

My back hurt a little until I stopped slouching, but that’s my bad.

Here are the pics! (I actually got them this time!)

Only took me 10 pieces to remember to take pics!
Tiny bottle!

It’s a little hard to see, but I’m working on the second color here. The leftover from the first color is in the tiny bottle (I’ve since bought a different crystal keeper) and the color I was working on is in the little lasagna pan.

They escape too easily and I found that a slightly larger container made it easier to grab them with the applicator. It also made it easier to shake them right side up.

Making progress, but fish sticks and fries was for supper!
Fabulous!

After taking a supper break, I ended up finishing this in about 3hrs. Give or take.

I was really happy when I finished because it was so mindless I just let myself zone out. Cleansing the mental pallet, as it were.

I don’t know about other kits, but this particular crystal one has a built in stand on the back you just pull out and slot into place.

This is now sitting on top of a bookshelf. Once I get my new bookshelves and things get reorganized for space, I’ll make sure to place it in a shelf with a unicorn book.

I actually don’t think I have any at the moment.

Thankfully!

Sherrilyn (Kenyon) McQueen has a new series coming out that does in fact have unicorns as main characters so I’ll be good!

Ta for now!!

My bad

Obviously I forgot to make a post for today. Some family things came up. Everyone is okay, but it made for a prioritization of my memory bank and apparently the post was one of the things to get knocked down the list.

Sorry!

Bible Study

Okay, now it’s getting a little hard to keep track of people.

Specifically the disciples.

Many of them were given new names by Jesus (I believe it was to signify their change) and obviously that’s cool, but I’m in Acts now.

I knew about Saul being renamed (he’s just a tad famous), but then there’s Peter who used to be called Simon and he also goes by Simon Peter…

I’m having to go back a few sentences or chapters to keep track of them at the moment.

Making for an interesting read though!

See ya next week!

Bible study!

More of a small rant I suppose.

I’m in the book of Luke now and so I’ve got a good bit of reading under my belt.

What’s interesting and a little sad (might not be the right word I’m looking for) is that the Israelites for a time literally had God living among them. Moses himself talked to God.

A lot!

Throughout their entire history the Hebrews/Israelites/Jews had a direct line to God.

And they still took it for granted.

Jesus literally grew up with them. Talked to them. Attended weddings (the wine at the end was delicious I hear 😉).

And they didn’t believe.

He made blind people see. Paralyzed people healthy. Made the lame walk.

IN FRONT OF WITNESSES!!

And they still didn’t believe He was the Messiah.

I think the sad part is that even if Jesus came down today and did the same thing, there would still be Christians that didn’t believe.

They’d argue scripture with Him. They’d try to trick Him with questions. And, ultimately, they’d try to get Him killed.

I’m sure you’re thinking (especially since this is the US of A) that they’d just try to get Him put in jail instead.

I disagree based solely on the fact that people in this day have no problem wishing a complete stranger would die. It’s not just on social media either, you know you’ve seen videos of people walking past someone with a sign they don’t like and yelling that they wish they’d just die and stop bothering other people.

The words and situation may be different, but I’m not wrong.

Hindsight is 20/20 and Christians today no doubt have trouble understanding how God’s chosen people could not only ignore, but crucify Jesus.

Wouldn’t we have acted differently? If only Jesus came in physical form again, we would certainly believe Him and never let anything bad happen to Him like the Jews did right?

Nope.

Jesus would still die for us though.

Reading the Bible as an adult is fascinating and I am thoroughly enjoying myself! Not sure how studying the Bible actually works cause it seems pretty straightforward so far (with a few exceptions), but I am certainly learning!

Until next week!

Ori and Alterans

My mama and I have gotten to season 9 which is when the Ori show up.

We aren’t too many episodes in when I start seeing the similarities between them and the Alterans.

Both have no actual regard for humans.

Both see humans as inferior, but useful on occasion.

Both use technology to gain cooperation in a manner that’s harmful (the Ori for belief and Alterans for experimentation).

I’m just saying y’all.

Having a great time though!

Completed crafty!

I hadn’t intended to do a big crafty thing today but things happened and this was actually the easiest craft to do.

Got this puppet holder from work when a new one came in, but it was several inches too big and I would have kept stubbing my toes. You can see the two sides that aren’t cut and the two I did before remembering I was supposed to take pics.

The hardest part was making a scored line the saw could nest in. Aggravating!

Once the teeth were completely beneath the top it got way easier! Not a lot of effort was needed at all!

I decided to time myself because it don’t feel very long but apparently it took me about half an hour for each side! 2 hrs to cut this down isn’t half bad!

Completely cut!

Rough edges will not do!

So nice and sanded.

Finished product!

Getting into my closet isn’t the easiest due to my rearranging and I’d been hanging my work shirts on my bedroom door knob for months to make it easier.

I didn’t like that because it looked tacky and felt wrong somehow.

Don’t ask me how.

Anyways, when this was going to be thrown away my boss said I could have it(so long as I took it that night!).

It didn’t occur to me until the next day that I could have dismantled it and put it in my car…

I put the seats down and shoved it in instead.

I like it! I may have to do some glow in the dark painting, but not now.

Ciao!

Crafty plans!

I got more tiny books which means more tiny shelves!

I should definitely have enough now to make another bookshelf.

I just have to get more black paint I believe. I didn’t realize how low I was so I’m not actually sure I have enough for another bookshelf project.

This time I am determined to take pics at every stage!

Will keep y’all posted!

Have a fabulous week and God bless it!

More crafty!!

How it began

I had already painted the dresses, grass, black around the outside and the rabbits themselves years ago when I first got this.

Obviously, I forgot to take between the paintings pics. This is the final result with a coating of varnish on it.

When I first tried varnish I was worried the white wouldn’t go away, but as you’ll see it did go away and leaves a beautiful shine!

The inside of the rabbit jewelry box originally had a velvet bottom but it was old and torn. I pried it out and considered making a resin diorama inside or simply replacing the velvet.

The bottle is an experiment I did years ago as well. It never occurred to me that the cork stopper would leak. I put super glue and resin around the rim to try and get it to stop before finally realizing I needed to coat the entire cork stopper with something to seal it!

The horse will be getting painted with only color shift paint. It’s also something of an experiment. I was going to paint it to match the description of a horse in a short story I did with NARCON, but I can’t find that story now…

It’s a little hard to see if you’re not looking, but the paint inside changes from blue to purple! The pic really doesn’t do it justice!

Final result!

Look how shiny!!

I don’t have too much left to paint, then I’ll be on to finishing my scrapbooks!

I’m super excited that I’ll be able to get rid of one of the tables in my room soon. That means I’ll be able to get the bigger bookshelves and eventually convert a smaller one into a craft holder for my supplies!

I’ve already started looking for organizational ideas!

Also!!

I have a super cool thing this year in addition to Toys for Tots!!

See ya next week!

Bible Study!

Still haven’t figured out how to post to a page and not just the blog (mostly because I forgot to look into that…oops.), however, nothing says I can’t just make Bible study blog posts!

Which you’d think I’d have thought of earlier…

Anyways, I’ve heard that God wants us to pray for our enemies. I don’t remember reading that yet in the Bible (I’m in Daniel now), though I suppose I could be forgetting (edit: I am forgetting because I read it in Psalms and highlighted it!) I know I’ve heard it said by multiple Christians on social media.

I always thought enemy was on par with great evil. Terrorists, pedophiles, murderers, and so on. It didn’t occur to me until today (and yes to some extent I’ve heard this said online too) that ‘enemy’ is anything or anyone that works to keep you from being closer to God and doing His will.

For example: there’s a frequent customer where I work and I don’t like him. At all, because he was rude to me during our first interaction and a few times since. If I’m supposed to pray for my enemies, that would definitely include him because I have allowed myself to be upset and angry and disgusted when I have to interact with him.

This clearly comes through in my tone, but I’ve allowed it and excused it by telling myself that I’m being professional and that’s the ‘bare minimum’ I need to be a good employee dealing with a trouble customer.

The ‘bare minimum’ is not what God asks of us.

Figuring this out changes perspective on quite a few things. Guess the question is whether I’ll choose to follow God’s command or not.

Heavy topic and easier said than done!

Til next time!
