Crafty plans!

I got more tiny books which means more tiny shelves!

I should definitely have enough now to make another bookshelf.

I just have to get more black paint I believe. I didn’t realize how low I was so I’m not actually sure I have enough for another bookshelf project.

This time I am determined to take pics at every stage!

Will keep y’all posted!

Have a fabulous week and God bless it!

More crafty!!

How it began

I had already painted the dresses, grass, black around the outside and the rabbits themselves years ago when I first got this.

Obviously, I forgot to take between the paintings pics. This is the final result with a coating of varnish on it.

When I first tried varnish I was worried the white wouldn’t go away, but as you’ll see it did go away and leaves a beautiful shine!

The inside of the rabbit jewelry box originally had a velvet bottom but it was old and torn. I pried it out and considered making a resin diorama inside or simply replacing the velvet.

The bottle is an experiment I did years ago as well. It never occurred to me that the cork stopper would leak. I put super glue and resin around the rim to try and get it to stop before finally realizing I needed to coat the entire cork stopper with something to seal it!

The horse will be getting painted with only color shift paint. It’s also something of an experiment. I was going to paint it to match the description of a horse in a short story I did with NARCON, but I can’t find that story now…

It’s a little hard to see if you’re not looking, but the paint inside changes from blue to purple! The pic really doesn’t do it justice!

Final result!

Look how shiny!!

I don’t have too much left to paint, then I’ll be on to finishing my scrapbooks!

I’m super excited that I’ll be able to get rid of one of the tables in my room soon. That means I’ll be able to get the bigger bookshelves and eventually convert a smaller one into a craft holder for my supplies!

I’ve already started looking for organizational ideas!

Also!!

I have a super cool thing this year in addition to Toys for Tots!!

See ya next week!

Bible Study!

Still haven’t figured out how to post to a page and not just the blog (mostly because I forgot to look into that…oops.), however, nothing says I can’t just make Bible study blog posts!

Which you’d think I’d have thought of earlier…

Anyways, I’ve heard that God wants us to pray for our enemies. I don’t remember reading that yet in the Bible (I’m in Daniel now), though I suppose I could be forgetting (edit: I am forgetting because I read it in Psalms and highlighted it!) I know I’ve heard it said by multiple Christians on social media.

I always thought enemy was on par with great evil. Terrorists, pedophiles, murderers, and so on. It didn’t occur to me until today (and yes to some extent I’ve heard this said online too) that ‘enemy’ is anything or anyone that works to keep you from being closer to God and doing His will.

For example: there’s a frequent customer where I work and I don’t like him. At all, because he was rude to me during our first interaction and a few times since. If I’m supposed to pray for my enemies, that would definitely include him because I have allowed myself to be upset and angry and disgusted when I have to interact with him.

This clearly comes through in my tone, but I’ve allowed it and excused it by telling myself that I’m being professional and that’s the ‘bare minimum’ I need to be a good employee dealing with a trouble customer.

The ‘bare minimum’ is not what God asks of us.

Figuring this out changes perspective on quite a few things. Guess the question is whether I’ll choose to follow God’s command or not.

Heavy topic and easier said than done!

Til next time!

Short today, but that’s okay!

Just an update today on crafty things!

Pretty sure I forgot to take before pictures (though I’ll check of course), but I got some more paining of small figures done today!

I got one completely done (it’s part of a set so I can’t post pics yet) and several almost done!

I also had a fantastic idea for one of them. It’s a cute little jewelry box that had a faux velvet liner to it but was torn. At first I was going to replace it then, while paining it today, I figured I may as well tear it out now.

What was underneath has potential!

I plan to paint the inside silver glittery and then add a small layer of resin to the bottom with a scene of some kind. Leaving enough room for it to still be used as a jewelry box if someone wanted too.

This was a lot done today. Even though it was all small stuff individually, it adds up!

Hopefully next week I’ll have pics of finished crafts!

Toodaloo!

CRAFTY!!

I finished it!! Here are the pics (when I remembered to take them…) to show the process!

First 2 shelves assembled!
Regular Elmer’s glue did the trick. I just needed to clip them together so they wouldn’t shift and become lopsided.
‘Pressure! Pushing down on me!’ (Books in picture are ALL fabulous except for Iron Flame and that’s just cause I haven’t read it yet!)
Properly affixed to each other.
The start.
I had gone over it already with the varnish before deciding I had enough to make it a 3 bay shelving unit. Ended up having to repaint a little where the clips took it off 2nd round.
Looking good!
Finishing touches include (obviously) glow-in-the-dark stars!!
Looks silly, but the paint bottles kept the stars pressed down so to end adhere tightly.
How it looks empty on my bookshelf!
The bookshelves, books, bookmarks and magnifying glasses!
Tiny books, bookcases on my bookshelf!

I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

I actually got another 2 after these pics, so the shelves are more full now and I’ll be getting 4 more later to add again!

I plan to ask my sister to make me barcodes and spine labels for them because these are library bookcases (it was the only way I could justify keeping all copies!) and as such require certain accoutrements!!

Love y’all!

See you next week and stay crafty!

The Tea!

We all remember when Shepherd meets Teyla for the first time and lies about liking tea.

How long do you think it took for him to confess to that?

I’m not saying Teyla didn’t know from that exact moment he was lying. I’m just wondering how long it took before their relationship was at the point that he randomly thought about it and apologized for lying.

It’s not a huge deal and she wouldn’t have held it against him either. Especially as time went by and she got to know him better.

But it is pretty funny to think about.

Bonus points if he was having a random conversation with Ronin and spilled about his and Teyla’s first meet and accidentally confessed.

I bet she would have messed with him for a bit or at least let Ronin do it.

Random thought that’s been floating around my head for a bit.

Have a fabulous week everyone!!

SO HOT!!

We’ve been under several heat alerts lately and it’s definitely taking a toll!

It’s not like we’ve been outside doing stuff for long periods of time, but the mere act of going from A/C to THAT level of heat is ridiculous.

Don’t even get me started on the changing pressure and pollen!!!

Everyone take a deep breath and keep up the good work!

I’ll see you next week!

Crafty mishap!

For Christmas my sister got me a small pestle and mortar.

It’s adorable!

I completely forgot about it because I left it wrapped and in it’s box to keep it safe, but while cleaning off my table recently I found it again.

I don’t currently have use for it because I’m not doing any crafts that would lend themselves to figuring out the best method.

However.

That didn’t stop me from trying to grind small pieces of glow-in-the-dark plastic.

A little back story: I got some dollar store glow-in-the-dark dinosaur kits and didn’t feel like throwing away perfectly good glow-in-the-dark material. Ever since then I’ve been randomly cutting the bigger pieces down.

I thought to myself, why not make it a powder so I can use it for crafty things?

I couldn’t find anything online about using a mortar and pestle for crafty things. I also couldn’t find anything concrete about trying to make powder out of plastic.

So I tried it.

Thankfully, my brother came in not long after and asked me what I was doing.

I told him and during the conversation he reminded me that plastic, for the most part, is toxic…

Trying to grind down plastic when I don’t know the properties is a bad idea.

I know this, because I’d started smelling something as I’d been grinding. I ignored it and kept going.

The slight headache I was getting could have been due to countless reasons so I don’t want to assume anything.

So, yeah.

Doing crafty things is fun but can also be dangerous!

Until next week, stay safe when crafting people!

Back home!

I’m officially done with dog sitting (this time) and am back home with my crafty things!

I did get all but the Atlantis stuff compiled into the journals and the only reason I didn’t get that done is because I had to buy another journal for it.

I didn’t really like the first one I chose, and was going to settle, but then I was shelving backstock at work and found a Papier journal that was made is USA, was blue and the right size!

It also gave me an excuse to buy a lavender Le Pen (Papier brand pen)!

It is the funniest thing that we have Le Pen’s. I get a kick out of it every time I remember.

It’s kind of like YA, but saying it ya instead in conversation. Years later and I’m still amused!

Could be because I’m tired and need a good nights sleep where I’m not waking up at 3:30am to feed puppers…

Until next week!

Short break?

I am once again dog sitting which means I won’t be able to work on my table crafty things.

Also means I won’t be able to update on my table crafty things.

However!

I do have a couple things I’m almost done with and once I’m done sitting I’ll post before and after pics and such.

I’m pretty excited!

I am getting some of my other work done though, which is equally exciting!

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I have a ton of notes for stories that I’ve collected over the years. Everything from napkins to torn out pieces of paper.

You know, the usual.

I finally got them organized and my journals set up so all I had to do was compile the notes into the journals.

A monumental task.

I brought one with this time to work on before work work…

I finished it the first day.

Which is great! Don’t get me wrong, but that also meant I didn’t have anything else to do until I switched it out.

I did get a novella and a paranormal romance finished in the interim though so my backlog of books is now just 3.

I did switch the journals out and took the one with the most amount of notes needing to be compiled. Hopefully I’ll get it done too!

It’d be great if I got them all done this sitting job. I had put them in a box while I moved things around in my room and then the old ‘out of sight, out of mind’ kicked in and I completely forgot until I had to clean off my table again.

At which point I unearthed them!

Slowly but surely I am getting things done!

Until next time, y’all stay positive and if dealing with impatience ask God for patience and peace.

Like I have been lately.

Toodles!
